Apply for a Dog through Assitance Dogs for Military Personnel

If you are a serviceman or woman and have suffered a significant loss of hearing or mobility due to your deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan you may apply for a Hearing or Service Dog through Assistance Dogs for Military Personnel

To Apply for an Assistance Dog for Military Personnel:

  • You must be a resident of Texas
  • The Hearing or Service Dog needs to be the only dog in the home. Other types of pets (cats, etc.) are okay, but another dog is too big a distraction to training.
  • THSD does not train a dog already owned by an applicant.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to apply. We prefer dealing directly with the person applying for the Hearing or Service Dog.
  • You must need a Hearing or Service Dog due to an injury acquired during your deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Proof will be required.
