Day 2:

  • Advanced Beginnings – How to capitalize on the early training sessions
  • The Service Dogs, Inc. Training Process
  • Service Dog Training – A Year In The Life – From Shelter To Certification

Day 3:

  • Service Dog Training, continued
  • Hearing Dog Training

Day 4:

  • Shelter Dog Evaluations -  Evaluating dogs for Hearing and Service Dog programs – Conducted at Austin Animal Center

Day 5:

  • Advanced Behavior Concepts and Training
  • Public Outing – Working dogs in public at the mall
  • Banquet Celebration (evening)

Al Kordowski
Director of Training, Service Dogs, Inc.

On leaving the inaugural Exotic Animal Training and Management program at Moorpark College in 1975, Al Kordowski began his 31 year professional career at SeaWorld, Orlando.  During his tenure he was formative in establishing a highly-successful training methodology replacing punishment with positives and worked across the entire management portfolio from developing shows and enhancing day-to-day guest interaction experiences through to enriching the environments for the marine and terrestrial animals.

Most recently, Kordowski was the Director of Zoological Operations at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia which includes hundreds of exotic animals as well as a water park, rides and concerts.

An established speaker and presenter on a variety of topics, including the philosophy and practices of Falconry, Kordowski has served as Vice Present and President, Board of Directors for the International Marine Animal Trainers Associations and also served as CFO, Board of Directors for The Animal Behavior Management Alliance.

In September 2011, Kordowski joined the team of Service Dogs, Inc. where he is steering the training department in the organization’s mission to rescue dogs from animal shelters and transform them into working partners for individuals living with disabilities.

Becky  McClintock

Assistance Dog Training Expert Becky Mcclintock

Becky McClintock is a dog trainer and educator specializing advanced clicker training; she is a recognized expert in the assistance dog field.   As the Manager of Training for Service Dogs Inc. Becky has played an integral role in the enhancement of the training program.  Since her start in 1999, she has been involved in every aspect of the training department encouraging innovation in the training of both dogs and humans.

Adept in shelter dog assessment, she has used her experience evaluating thousands of shelter dogs to develop Service Dog Inc.’s current evaluation protocols.  These evaluation methods have led to a program success rate of close to 80%, greatly exceeding the industry standard.

Becky created her business, Seize the Click! to provide consultation and educational services to other trainers. Her passion is thoughtfully training dogs to become engaged, advanced learners, and teaching others to do the same.  Becky presents the seminars Click for Independence I and II around the nation.

Highlights of her speaking engagements have included Assistance Dog International, Clicker Expo and Fundación Bocalán.  The Association of Pet Dog Trainers’ (APDT) Chronicle of the Dog has published Becky’s articles on assistance dog training.  She has also presented webinars for APDT.

A graduate of Texas A&M with a B.S. in Animal Science, Becky is a diehard Aggie and was thrilled to consult with the A&M faculty on the search and selection of their Collie mascot, Reveille VIII.

Service Dogs, Inc. is a non profit organization founded in 1988 by Sheri Soltes.
Operating from a 6 acre campus in Dripping Springs, Texas, near Austin, Service Dogs, Inc.’s core mission is to rescue dogs from animal shelters and train them as working partners for individuals living with a severe loss of hearing or mobility.  Recipients receive the dogs and customized training free of charge.  Service Dogs, Inc. is located in Dripping Springs, Texas, 30 minutes west of Austin.

Refunds and Cancellations:
$150.00 deposit is not refundable.
Full refund of balance paid after deposit ($1,350) minus $50 processing fee for cancellation:

Video, Photo and Recording Policy:

This is a private event. Recording, video or photography by participants will be allowed  for personal use only.  Such recordings may not be published or used in any way without written permission from SDI and all persons filmed. Participants must share any recordings with the class via a file sharing site set up by SDI.  

Social Media Policy and Image Use:

In order to respect the privacy of individuals attending the seminar, registrants will have the opportunity to choose to be included or excluded from SDI social media posts related to the seminar. (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, etc) Participants will be asked to sign a release to permit SDI’s use of their image in social media, future marketing campaigns and/or seminars. Participant’s images will not be used without permission.
