SDI Grad Laura Halvorson wins Ms. Wheelchair Texas!

Congratulations to Service Dogs, Inc. graduate Laura Halvorson, Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2014!

Laura, her boyfriend Brad and her Service Dog King at Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2014 in Dallas, March 29, 2014. In August, she will compete for Ms. Wheelchair America in Longbeach, California.

Ms. Wheelchair Texas selects the most accomplished and articulate spokeswoman for the millions of Texans with disabilities. Laura, who has a Masters degree in Special Educations, won because she is able to communicate both the needs and the accomplishments of her constituency to the general public, the business community and the legislature.

As Ms. Wheelchair Texas, she will travel, make public appearances, and conduct radio, print, and television interviews in the fulfillment of her responsibilities. She will promote awareness of the need to eliminate architectural, communication, and attitudinal barriers, educate Texans on disability issues, and informing the public of the achievements of people with disabilities across our great state.
Her platform motto is “Life rolls on despite your limitation through advocacy, education, and inspiration.
