Volunteer at Events – Statewide in Texas
SDI events vary widely — from our huge Mighty Texas Dog Walk to booths at local shows.
- Events can involve set-up and tear-down, interaction with the public, and event preparations such as making signs, stuffing gift bags, helping with registration, administrative duties, etc.
- Some of our events are in cities around Texas, so we always need and appreciate out-of-town volunteers.
- Event volunteers are scheduled by event, so the schedule and work hours vary.
Be sure to check out our events page to see what we will be up to next!
Volunteer at the Training Center – in Dripping Springs, TX
Volunteers help with a wide variety of tasks, things like cutting up treats (we use thousands every week), sweeping, cleanup of our training facility or administrative duties. Such tasks are very important in saving time for the trainers.
Dogs All Around
Most volunteer activities take place in the Training Building. There you will see dogs in training and many of our day-to-day activities. Some activities take place around our five acre site, especially if you are assisting with maintenance, repair, or landscaping work – a special need in summer.
As it happens, we do not have volunteer opportunities that deal with the direct care of our dogs in training. Even though they would love help with kennel clean up or exercise, it’s not where we need volunteers at this time. Our training staff take care of everything involved with the dogs in their highly specialized training, as every contact is a training opportunity.
