FOUNDATION FOSTER PROGRAM

Give our dogs a head start on their training!

Qualifying volunteers house, socialize and train newly adopted shelter dogs for their first 12 week training period. You will receive our Foundation Level Lesson Plan and attend a weekly group class on our campus in Dripping Springs.

We ask that Foundation Fosters not have other dogs. Other pets are fine.

Dogs’ Health

SDI quarantines all newly adopted shelter dogs for a minimum of 2 weeks. We make sure dogs are healthy before moving them into our campus kennels with other dogs or into a foster home.

Conclusion

At the end of the 12 week foster period, the foster dog returns to SDI for continued training.  Foster Families can still foster their dog on weekends. We also invite you to attend our Team Training Graduation luncheon to meet your Foster dog's new partner and share your experiences with them.
