"It's going to be okay," Channalee signed, her eyes brimming with tears. Encore had just alerted her to a sound for the very first time. They were in Team Training week at SDI. Nudging her leg to get her attention, Encore led Channalee to a table across the room where her mobile phone was ringing. Then to her fiancé calling her name. And finally, he spun to show her the smoke alarm was beeping.

Last year at Bastrop County Animal Services, this hopeful dog caught our eye with his friendliness and incredible interest in sounds. He trained hard. He mastered sound alerts, heeling next to a shopping cart and everything else to become a real Hearing Dog, capable of excellent behavior in public, as well as saving the day at home.

Encore is known for keeping his eye on the ball

"He's one of the top three dogs I've ever evaluated," says SDI COO and Director of Training Tailer O'Neill. "I love all of our dogs, but I am going to really miss Encore."

We custom trained Encore for Channalee including helping her in her role as a mom to young children. Now when they call for her, she will know they need her.

Channalee and Encore's training to this point has been sponsored by donations from individuals like you. As we move Encore into Channalee's home to continue three months of weekly training sessions, we hope you'll donate to support their In-home training and get them the big finish they deserve.
